Service Times

Valley Christian church meets every Sunday. Our "Sunday Celebrations" begin at 10:00 am. The services usually open a time of lively praise and worship lead by either our adult or youth worship teams, followed by a few announcements, and then a time of sharing in testimonies, prayer, and encouragement from members of the congregation, then a sermon or message from the pastor or a number of church members. We usually conclude with a time of prayer and ministry.

Services are geared for worship and ministry. For the younger crowd, children's church and a nursery are available.

Throughout the week, small groups meet to help train and disciple our members. Each person who regularly attends the VCC should join a small group! It is a good way to learn, and a fun way to meet people. Information about small groups can be found in the display rack at the back of the auditorium or by calling the church office.

GOVERNMENTAL/ORGANIZATIONAL

Valley Christian Church is neither autocratic nor democratic but theocratic in structure. The Senior Pastor and elders are appointed by God to shepherd the Body at VCC. With the Senior Pastor, the Elders are responsible for all ministry functions. The Eldership consists of husband & wife teams or individuals nominated by founding elders and approved by the membership.

Valley Christian Church is non-denominational but is not independent. VCC is is part of Word of Grace Fellowship and is also related to various apostolic ministries that have been instrumental in our vision and place in the body of Christ. At VCC we firmly believe, teach and practice proper spiritual authority and spiritual covering. Our Tenets of Faith are available in our Vision and Faith page

GREETERS/USHERS

Greeters provide the first and last impression of VCC received by members and visitors at services. Guests and members alike are put at ease as they are assisted to a desirable seat and provided any necessary information required for the service. Receiving, counting and depositing offerings are important ushering functions.

AUDIO/VISUAL

This group provides proper audio at all services and special events. VCC services are recorded in their entirety on audio tape. These recordings are made available to the Body for a nominal fee. Personal prophecies and sermons are provided regularly so that the word of the Lord can be thoroughly digested by the recipient. This department is responsible for proper setup and maintenance of all sound equipment. Functions include video, audio, lights, special effects for special events, etc.

TAPE MINISTRY

This responsibility includes duplication, archiving and distribution of audio tapes to people who are unable to attend due to ministry responsibilities during services and for provision to interested Body members.

LIBRARY

We believe that good Christian reading is an important resource for personal growth in the Lord. A resource lending library is available for the edification of the Body. This ministry provides opportunities for administration and record-keeping of tapes, books and other ministry resources for all ages. A video library geared towards children is kept up-to-date to enable parents to provide quality training and viewing pleasure of children

PROJECTIONISTS

Assist the worship leader by projecting lyrics to praise and worship songs so that the congregation is provided a hands-free worship opportunity. Duties include pulling and arranging song files, replacing files alphabetically, proper maintenance of overhead bins.

 GROUNDS MAINTENANCE

A variety of opportunities exist for those who enjoy serving outdoors such as lawn mowing in the summer, sidewalk de-icing and snow removal in the winter. The ability to perform minor external repairs, gardening, painting, pruning, landscaping, minor mechanical repair and maintenance is required.

BUILDINGS MAINTENANCE

This covers the responsibility of keeping the sanctuary, classrooms, and offices in quality condition. Skills such as carpentry, painting, wallpapering, cleaning, and minor electrical/plumbing are beneficial to effectively serve in this capacity.

CHILDREN'S CHURCH

We see children not as the "church of the future" but as vital to the "present and future of the church"! VCC is committed to help parents train and prepare the hearts and minds of their children for active membership in the Body of Christ. The Children's Ministry encompasses the nursery (newborn to two years of age), children's church , Teens . A variety of activities are offered such as vacation bible school and overnighters.

The nursery serves both child and parent. Babies (newborn to two years) are nursery participants. Ministers provide comfort, feed, change diapers, and speak the word over the babies during services. This function provides ministry to the entire Body.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Once a year, we participate a week-long VBS which gives us the opportunity to minister in depth to children on a particular theme or subject. It also provides an excellent opportunity to reach out into the community, to invite neighbors and friends of our children to church. We often work with other churches in the area to make this a community-wide evangelistic project. Workers are always needed for this summer week.

YOUTH MINISTRY

The Teen Ministry at VCC meets every Saturday evening. Young people are an integral part of the Body. Their energy, exuberance and excitement is contagious. The Youth Ministry offers an alternative to the negative peer pressure youth face every day. Through praise and worship, relevant teaching, outside ministry opportunities and activities, our youth build relationships with each other and with God Vital training for church leadership is gained as youth learn of their value to God and grow in their commitment to Him.

MEN'S MINISTRY

The men of VCC,meet for fellowship and prayer every Monday morning at 6:30 at a local restaurant. The purpose is to establish in each man's life the qualities and characteristics of Godly men. Men are encouraged to build one another up through fellowship, prayer, and sharing of testimonies and experiences. We desire to see all men formed in the image of Christ, possessing the character and personality traits of Jesus Christ.

WOMEN'S MINISTRY

The women's ministry of VCC has the goal restoring Godly womanhood to the body of Christ. The ministry's purpose is to extend hands of evangelism and mercy both locally and around the globe. It is our desire to have women experience personal and spiritual expansion so that each is equipped to perform the work to which God has called her. Each year the ladies have a community outreach called Ladies Christmas Tea that reaches out to women in the community. We also have other special ladies events throughout the year.

PRAISE & WORSHIP

This ministry consists of dynamic, praise and worship music and a variety of other redeemed art forms promote celebration of Christ. Our goal is to create a passion for the presence of God in the heart of every attender. We promote a lifestyle of worship. The VCC Body is being trained as warriors in the army of the Lord. This training results in victory over Satan in their everyday lives. We have number of talented singers and players who have a heart for worship lead in the praise and worship music each Sunday.

WORSHIP LEADER

Leading praise and worship demands a "lifestyle" of praise and worship. Vocal and leadership skills are a must, but the ability to hear and follow the voice of God and flow with the Holy Spirit is even more essential. The worship leader prepares the worship agenda, maintains song records and leads worship team practices, etc., under the oversight of the Senior Pastor.

CARE GROUPS

A growing congregation makes it difficult to develop true koinonia relationships with each member of the congregation. VCC Home Groups were established to meet this growing need. Home Groups meet in residences throughout the area to develop healthy, supportive, Christian relationships. This setting affords a comfortable place for the discovery and practice of one's spiritual gifts without intimidation. Home Group meetings consist of worship, sharing, Bible discussion, prayer, practical acts of love, and fellowship. True discipleship is nurtured and taught in this small group setting.

CARE GROUP LEADERS

Care Group Leaders are mature Christians chosen to act as facilitators of periodic home group meetings. The leader is responsible for all aspects of pastoral care of the VCC members assigned to them by the Senior Pastor or his designate. VCC members and regular attenders are periodically absent for a variety of reasons such as illness, vacation, misunderstandings, etc. The Home Group Leader is responsible for communication with each member so as to be aware of causes for habitual absenteeism and to minister to any apparent needs or conditions as they arise. This ministry will reduce attrition and improve the overall health, well being and cohesiveness of the VCC Body.

HOST HOME PROVIDER

There are occasions when Care Group Leaders are unable to use their residence for meetings for one reason or another. On these occasions, host homes are required. Host home providers graciously offer the use of their home, providing an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality for home group meetings.

VISITOR FOLLOW-UP

There is a need for friendly, caring people, who are gifted in relating to new people, to contact visitors by telephone or in person. A well-rounded understanding of the ministries available at VCC is helpful so that questions can promptly and accurately be answered.
